(IJF) - Former Korean superstar judoka in the Under 86 kg. category
for men, Ki-young Jeon (28) combined forces with Fighting Films Ltd.
of Great Britain from the 11th - 13th December 2001 in Seoul, Korea
to produce a new instructional video about the techniques that made
Jeon a three time World Champion and Gold Medallist at the 1996 Atlanta
Olympics.
Over a four-day period the Fighting Films team and Jeon recorded video
and photographs at Jeon's alma mater, Kyunggi University located just
outside Seoul.
According to Jeon, "Despite the cold weather, I am really happy to
have had the opportunity to capture my combination techniques on film
for a whole new generation of judokas throughout the world" adding,
"Up until now, the only record of my judo performances were available
from the highlight tapes of past World Championships and the Olympic
Games. But now, I believe that teaming together with Fighting Films,
our tape will be an excellent instructional resource and record of
what it really takes to be the best in the world."
Fighting Films was joined in Seoul by TWOJ Editor and IJF Official
Photographer, Bob Willingham of Great Britain.
Fighting Films will soon begin production of the Jeon videotape with
distribution expected by early 2002. Fighting Films also has plans
to produce a book with detailed photographs about the career and techniques
of the great Korean champion, Jeon.
Jeon retired from competitive judo following his third consecutive
World Championships victory at the 1997 Paris World Championships
and is currently the National Team Trainer for the Korean Men's National
Team.
