The 2003 Jigoro Kano Cup International Judo Tournament was held on January 11th and 12th 2003
at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. For the first time in the history of the Kano Cup, the
Golden Score (sudden death scoring victory) was used. This was also the first time in Japan.
Attending the 2003 Kano Cup, representing the International Judo Federation (IJF), were its
President, Yong Sung Park of Korea, Vice President, Yoshinori Takeuchi of Japan, Vice President,
Jaime Casanova of the Dominican Republic and Education Director, Ryozo Nakamura of Japan.

Tamerlan Tmenov RUS in the semifinals and then defeated Takahashi with this Ippon in
the +100kg final "I've still got a lot of work to do," said Muneta. "I
may have got the win today but I'm not satisfied with my performance." Japan won
all three weight classes on the final day of the Kano Cup international judo tournament.
